Seven things that quietly cost you money
None of these feel like a crisis on their own. Added up over a year, they are the difference between a business and a very stressful job.
Bookings live in six different places
Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, texts, a voicemail, a note on the van dashboard. One gets missed, two get booked for the same Saturday.
You price jobs in your head
Same job, three different prices depending on the day. And nine times out of ten the number you say out loud is lower than the one you'd have written down.
There's no one calendar
Half of it's in your phone, half of it's in your head. Which is how you end up ringing someone on Tuesday to apologise.
You run out mid-job
No stock list means no warning. You find out you're short when you're already stood in someone's kitchen.
Chasing money eats your evenings
Two to four hours a day on invoices, reminders and 'just checking you got that' messages — unpaid, every one of them.
March is a scramble
Everything's in messages, so the tax return means scrolling back a year. And you still couldn't say which jobs actually made money.
The other tools want a cut
£39–£99 a month, plus around 2.9% of every booking, built for American businesses, and four hours of setup before it does anything useful.
One answer to all seven: put the whole business in one place.
Craftrun takes the enquiry, prices the job from your own saved rates, puts it on one calendar, takes the deposit, counts your stock down as you use it, chases the balance for you, and keeps the running total of what you earned and what it cost you — to the UK tax year, ready to hand over.
- One booking link instead of six inboxes
- Quotes priced from your rates, not your memory
- One calendar — day, week and month
- Stock counted down, with reorder alerts
- Reminders and payment chasing on autopilot
- Income, costs and profit ready for 5 April
How it works
Three steps. Most people are taking bookings before their tea goes cold.
Step 1: Pick your trade
Choose the template that matches what you do. Your services, prices, durations, stock list and booking questions are already filled in — sensible UK rates you can edit in seconds. Then a guided price check walks you through making them yours, because no template knows your business.
Step 2: Share your booking link
You get a proper booking page straight away. Put it in your Instagram bio, your WhatsApp status, your van. Customers pick a slot; you stop typing 'what day suits you?' for the hundredth time.
Step 3: Run the lot from one screen
Bookings, quotes, calendar, deposits, stock and your numbers — one dashboard on your phone. Reminders go out on their own. March stops being a scramble.
Your trade is already set up
This is why five minutes is a real number and not a slogan. Pick your trade and your services, realistic UK prices, job durations, stock list and booking questions are already there. Change what you charge, delete what you don't do, and you're live.

£24 a month, against what the chaos already costs you
You are already paying for this problem. Not on an invoice — in unpaid evenings, in jobs quoted too low, in enquiries that went cold in a thread. The calculator on our pricing page lets you put your own hours and your own job values in and see the number for yourself.
It is deliberately conservative: it assumes you win back 70% of your admin time, not all of it, and it counts nothing at all for better cash flow or for the tax you overpay when receipts go missing.
Work out your numberThe commission difference
- Typical booking platform
- £39–£99/mo plus around 2.9% of every booking
- On £4,000 of bookings a month, that commission alone is roughly £116 — every month, forever.
- Craftrun
- £24/mo plus 0% commission
- We never take a cut of your work. You pay your card processor's fee and your subscription — that is the whole list.
Refer 2 businesses, your next month is free
You'll know other people in the same mess — the joiner you sub work to, the girl who does lashes two doors down. Every account has a referral link. When 2 businesses you send us start paying, your next month costs nothing. It repeats — there's no cap.
Referrals count once the business is past its free trial and on a paid plan.
Accountants and bookkeepers
If your clients hand you a carrier bag of receipts every January, this is for you as much as for them. Craftrun keeps their records to the UK tax year and exports clean CSVs you can work from. Refer a client and you earn 20% recurring commission for as long as they stay subscribed.
Join the partner programmeWhere we're up to
Built by a sole trader in Scotland who got tired of running a business out of a message app. Craftrun is new and we're not going to invent customers we don't have yet: the first 3 businesses get 3 months free in exchange for honest feedback — including the parts we've got wrong.
The questions people actually ask
Is my data safe? Where does it live?
Yes. Craftrun runs on UK and EU infrastructure — hosting in London, database in the EU — and we follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your customer list is yours: you can export it or delete it whenever you like, and we never sell it or hand it to advertisers. The full detail, including every sub-processor we use, is in our privacy policy.
Do I need a website first?
No. Your booking page is your website as far as most customers are concerned. It has your services, your prices, your availability and a form that puts the enquiry straight into your calendar. On Pro and above you can point your own domain at it if you'd rather.
What if I'm not techy?
Then you're exactly who this is for. There's nothing to install and nothing to configure — you pick your trade, check the prices we've pre-filled, and you're taking bookings. If you get stuck, email hello@craftrun.co.uk and a person replies, usually within 1 business day. Once you're in, a guided price check walks you through your real prices, your costs and the jobs the template missed — it takes about four minutes and you can do it at midnight.
Do you take a cut of my bookings?
Never. Zero commission, permanently — it's written into the product, not a launch offer. You pay your card processor's fee (Stripe's, and you can see it) and your monthly subscription. Nothing else. Most booking platforms take around 2.9% of every job on top of a monthly fee; on £4,000 of bookings a month that's roughly £116 gone, every month.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from your account settings, in two clicks. Your subscription runs to the end of the period you've paid for and then stops — no notice period, no cancellation fee, no phone call to sit through. The 14-day trial doesn't ask for a card at all, so if you walk away there's nothing to cancel.
Does it do my tax return?
Honestly: no, and be wary of anything that says it does. Craftrun keeps your income, costs and profit in order all year, works to the UK tax year (6 April to 5 April), and exports tidy figures and a CSV your accountant can actually use — so the return takes an evening instead of a fortnight. It does not file anything with HMRC and it is not an accountant. You, or your accountant, still submit it.
